  •  DSPA Member Phil Nuytten has requested help.
"Hi DSPA Guys: Phil Nuytten sent me the message below a dew days ago and I am unable to help him. Do any of you recall the man's name or company title of the submersible he is referring to? Regards Will Forman
  • Hi, Will! Don't know if I remembered to thank you for the novel - it was first class! Currently on loan to another submersophile . . Question for you: Do you remember the name of the fellow that had 'Aquarius 2' (or 3?) for sale? He advertised it in a little-bitty black & white ad in Undersea Tech mag for years! I seem to remember his name was Wally Heyworth or Haywurth - he's was in Washington state and had a business that was something like 'Pressure Systems' or 'HP systems' or 'Air Systems' or ? I think he set up SCUBA stations and other air systems. I've tried a number of combos on the net but draw a blank. He bought one of the hulls that Hyco had fabricated by SW Research - they turned out heavier than spec and Hyco refused to accept them. (The other was made into 'Pioneer 1' by Martech International Inc.) I have a client who's looking to buy a 'cheap' (!) Perry-style boat and have us rebuild it - rather than buy a new hull. Any of the 1200 series would probably do . . .I wonder what happened to all those hulls that were sitting in a yard in the UK after Intersub, Vickers Oceanics, etc., packed it in. I seem to remember one or more Pisces and several Perry boats. Any ideas? Regards Phil "

The Deep Voyage
cover photo link The Deep Voyage - by DSPA member Will Forman “Mr. Forman has joined his extensive knowledge of deep submersibles and specialized undersea frozen hydrate deposits with an adventure story that has intrigue, romance, death-defying rescues, and fascinating descriptions of unusual flora and fauna in deep sea floor fractures.         “In this latest book, actual scientific events, combined with the antics and escapades of the heroes in the midst of a cold hydrothermal vent area make the book both exciting and scientific.  It may seem like science fiction, but the book is based on realistic events that could only be described by an author who knows both engineering and oceanography.         “As a publisher I think this book has a great deal of merit.  It is well written and has all of the elements needed in a goal exploration tale.  It should keep the reader turning the pages to see what happens next and to discover the unique and scientifically correct systems of the heroes rescue techniques.”   Jim Joiner President Best Publishing Company, Flagstaff, AZ
